Biopics are not new in the celluloid, as we have seen many by now. However, a biopic on Indian Women Cricketer is certainly new and the biopic of Mithali Raj has certainly broken the barrier. Famous actress Taapsee Pannu will essay the role of Raj – the captain of Indian Women’s Cricket Team in the 50-over format.

It was in January last year when the news first came in the limelight. Mithali Raj’s contributions for the Team India has mostly been under the wraps until 2017 Women’s World Cup. But the mega event has changed the scenario not only for her but also for the Indian Women’s Cricket in the country. And it started with a cheeky reply of Raj who replied to one of the reporters, “Do you ask them who their favourite female cricketer is?” when she was asked about her favourite male cricketer during a press conference of Women’s World Cup.

However, Taapsee Pannu had shared her first look from the film on Twitter with the caption, “I have always been asked who’s your favorite male cricketer but you should ask them who their favorite female cricketer is. The statement that made every cricket lover pause and introspects that do they love the game or the gender playing it. @M_Raj03 you are a ‘Game Changer'”

But the movie took a backseat amid the crunch time of COVID-19 and it’s enforced break last year. Since the situation has been getting better, the biopic of Mithali Raj is once again back in track. On Wednesday, Taapsee Pannu has shared a picture of her training for the upcoming biopic – ‘Shabaash Mithu’.

Pannu took to social media and shared a photo from her training session where she can be seen with the former India cricketer and the renowned coach Devieka Palshikaar. Palshikaar has coached several domestic teams alongside the international team – Bangladesh. Alongside another former India player, Anju Jain, she helped Bangladesh to taste a fair share of success at the international level as well.

“And romance with the bat n the ball has begun…. long way to go but a good start is half job done 🙂 This is going to be another milestone of sorts…. “For our captain cool @M_Raj03 and all her #WomenInBlue #ShabaashMithu @rahuldholakia @AndhareAjit @Viacom18Studios (sic),” she shared on Twitter.

Notably, Rahul Dholakia, who is best known for his movies such as “Raees”, “Lamhaa” and “Parzania”, will direct the biopic, whereas Viacom18 Studios will produce the biopic – ‘Shabaash Mithu’.
