The 3rd match of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 will be played between South Africa and India on January 14. Meanwhile, the Indian team is already in good form, having thrashed the New Zealand team in a five-match home series last month as well.
Moreover, they did that without having Shafali Verma or Richa Ghosh with them. And, now with their inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad, India are one of the strongest teams in the tournament. However, they have an easier group with South Africa, Scotland and UAE in it as well.
With the experience of 74 international matches for India, and scoring 2004 runs, including 12 fifties, India captain Shafali Verma is expected to play a crucial role for India. Moreover, she has a record of playing more than 50 T20Is before the age of 19. And, she holds the record for the most runs by any player before the age of 19 in T20Is as well.
On the other hand, hosts South Africa doesn’t have any player who has played in senior international cricket in the squad as well, but they are familiar with the situation and expected to give a tough fight to the opponents as well. Meanwhile, skipper Oluhle Siyo and all-rounder Kayla Reyneke are the two familiar faces who can trouble any big players as well.
On the other hand, spinner Seshnie Naidu is likely to play a key part for South Africa as well. She claimed seven wickets in the recent bilateral series against the India under-19 Team. She also did well in the series against Zimbabwe for South Africa emerging women’s team as well.
