Team India ODI skipper and batting sensation, Mithali Raj has once again for the ninth time has topped the MRF Tyres ICC ODI Player Rankings. The first in her career was more than 16 years ago, and this time after dethroning West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor who had slipped down to the fifth rank.
This came into account after Taylor lost 30 points in the five-match series against Pakistan as she scored 49 and 21 in the two innings that she batted although her side won the series with a 3-2 margin. Despite the fall, she had made it to the first position a week back with her unbeaten century in the very first match of the series.
That too after going wicket-less in the three matches, she left companying the list of top all-rounders that names Australia’s Ellyse Perry. Deandra Dottin, Kyshona Knight and Britney Cooper ended up at 25th, 42nd and 81st place respectively. On the other hand, off-spinner Anisa Mohammed advanced to 23rd with her six wickets in one go. Hayley Matthew and Chinelle Henry, too have made it to the 32nd and 67th positions, respectively.
Pakistan’s Omaima Sohail pushed herself up to her career-best 36th position with her outstanding 62, 61 and 34-run knocks. On the other hand, Sidra Ameen and Muneeba Ali progressed to 62nd and 68th rank. Among the bowlers, left-spinner Anam Amin and Fatima Sana have pushed through to end at 48th and 66th position, respectively, the list which is topped by Australia’s left-arm spinner, Jess Jonassen.
Admitting to the gains that the Indian side has acknowledged, Smriti Mandhana concluded at her career-best 3rd position along with Deepti Sharma and wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh who have progressed to the 36th and 72nd position, respectively.
England opener Danielle Wyatt has lifted herself to 17th place along with her team-mate Katherine Brunt who has successfully made it to the Top 10, summing at the 7th position. Natalie Sciver at another distinct end has concluded to joint-17th among the bowlers’ list as well.
