The International Cricket Council, on Tuesday, announced the nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for February 2024. The past month witnessed some interesting matches and exceptional player performances.
Here are the nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of The Month Award with one Australian and two UAE players having made the cut.

The stellar all-rounder from Australia has continued to make a mark for herself in international cricket and the month of February was no different. Carrying on the brilliant form from the India tour in December-January, the versatile Aussie was at her best even in the series versus South Africa.

The standout for her was the stellar double century she notched up in the one-off test match against the dominating Proteas bowling. She also set the record for the fastest double century and scripted her name in history books for the right reasons. Not only was she impressive with the bat but also stood out with her bowling performance scalping three crucial wickets, that ensured the opposition was bowled out for a meagre 76.

Esha Oza has elevated her game even more since she took up captaincy for the United Arab Emirates. Known for her all-round capabilities- Oza was in delightful form for the UAE in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup and ensured her team made it to the final draw of the Asia Cup scheduled to take place, tentatively in July 2024.

Not only did she finish as the highest run-getter of the tournament, but she was also brilliant with her astute captaincy. With memorable knocks throughout the tournament, her century versus Oman was instrumental in leading her team to the finals. With her prolific run extending to the finals where she scored a crucial half-century, Oza ended the tournament with a high and a big win. Deservingly, she was awarded the ‘Player of the Tournament’.

Another crucial cog in the wheel for UAE has to be Kavisha Egodage who has quietly been a contributor to success. In the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, she was once again in good form as she not only emerged as the second-highest run-getter but also fourth on the list of highest wicket-takers.
With consistent performances in her DNA, this tournament saw her all-round prowess come in handy for the UAE. In fact, in the finals, she stitched an imperative partnership with Esha Oza and even scalped a wicket that paved the way for a famous win!
