Women’s Big Bash League’s season 9 aka WBBL 2023 has already completed the second week of impressive play and quality performance. The second week was not exactly a table-turner but has been one of aggressive play and quality run-scoring and wicket-taking from all 8 teams.

The games played were aggressive and skilful which has led to some quality contributions from some of the best players of the league so far. Here we have the top ten run-scorers and wicket-taking bowlers across all teams at the end of week 2. From Sunday 29th October to 4th November covered some major games of the league. Grace Harris has retained her top position from the last week and still continues to rule over the top run-scorers’ list. She has been playing at an impressive strike rate of 192 and has secured 258 runs in all. What troubles her fans is that she hasn’t been able to contribute any major runs in this week. Last week she was at the top with 242 and this week she has been able to secure just 16 more runs.

At number 2 in the batting list of WBBL 2023, we have Chamari Athapaththu who has successfully replaced Katie Mack from last week with an addition of 114 runs. She stands at the second position with a contribution of 246, playing at the strike rate of 135.

Katie Mack has lost her second position from last week, but still stands firm on the third position. She has secured 221 runs so far and is playing at a strike rate of 124.8.

Beth Mooney, who is on the fourth position, is in fact only a run away from breaking it to number 3. She falls short of a run to make it to Katie Mack’s 3rd position, this puts Mack into danger. Mooney stood at the 8th position last week, but this week she has improvised and made it to the 4th position of the WBBL 2023 batting chart.

On the 5th position we have Elyse Villani, who has overtaken Ellyse Perry’s position, throwing her down to the 7th. Villani was indeed nowhere among the top ten batters, but this week she made it among the top 5 with her fantabulous contribution.

For the top ten bowlers, the stats have changed considerably this week.

Ashleigh Gardner takes the first spot in the WBBL 2023 bowling chart with 12 wickets so far. Gardner’s contribution for her team has been major. She bowls at an economy of 7.43 making her the finest so far.

On the second position we have Annabel Sutherland, Melbourne Stars’ bowler who has been playing an impressive game. Last week Sutherland was on the fourth position, but this week she has taken a successful leap to the second position.

Lauren Cheatle, the most wicket-takers of the past week, is now at the 3rd position, securing 11 wickets so far. Cheatle bowls at an impressive strike rate, which is a major contribution towards the team. She is the second Sydney Sixer bowler among the top 3 bowlers of the WBBL 2023.

Perth Scorchers’ Amy Edgar has made it to the 4th position. Last week she was nowhere on the leading table, but this week her impressive 10 wickets in all and an amazing economy has dropped her to the 4th position. More is expected from the youngster in the upcoming games of the WBBL 2023.

Jess Jonassen, the fine Perth Scorchers’ bowler has secured the 5th position this week. Jonassen has leaped 2 positions upwards, from 7th to 5th position, with 10 wickets in all in the WBBL 2023 bowling chart.

The stats are just an overview of the players so far. Many more players will be added to the tables next week and much is expected to change. The upcoming statistics will be even more interesting, as the competition builds on further and players give in their level bests.
