Adelaide Strikers have smashed the Brisbane Heats to a huge defeat in a WBBL 2023. Fetching all 10 wickets in the second inning of the game, Strikers secured a celebratory win over Brisbane Heat in just 16 overs.

Megan Schutt and Amanda Jade Wellington led the team to a victory. Their brilliant bowling attack backed by smooth economised delivery, helped the team secure the game as early as possible. After having set a decent score with Bridget Patterson’s help, the bowlers successfully defended the score and led the team to a wonderful victory.

The WBBL 2023 game in Adelaide was a total disappointment for the visiting team, the Brisbane Heat. They weren’t able to perform well with bat in hand and lost partnerships which led them to a defeat. Adelaide Strikers commanded the game with the ball in hand. They decided to bat first.

Opening the partnership of Katie Mack and Laura Wolvaardt was rather a disappointment for the team. Neither of them was able to secure the required scores for the team. They were lost too soon, as the team was off to a really slow start.

Grip was held by Tahlia McGrath and Bridget Patterson who then batted furiously. Good executive batting from the two. While McGrath didn’t stay back for too long, she played a quick game of 20 runs, before she was lost to Jess Jonassen’s classy delivery.

Patterson led the batting side from the front. She played a hardcore, fierce game, batting a total of 70 runs in just 53 deliveries. The player batted at a strike rate of 132 and helped the team secure the required runs. Her contribution was massive which led the team to a decent total.

Patterson was backed by Madeline Penna who played a not-out game of 36 runs in 29 deliveries. This led the team to a total score of 148 at a loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Good bowling efforts from Jess Jonassen and Nicola Hancock. Both picked the wickets of the major players and the bowlers did stop the batter from a low score.

The Brisbane Heat batters were off to a very disappointing start, with Georgia Redmayne losing her early wicket. While she was lost for a duck, Georgia Voll batted with Grace Harris and the two tried to stabilise the situation. But they couldn’t hold partnerships and failed to play back for too long as Grace Harris was lost on Jenna Barsby’s delivery and soon after Mignon du Preez and Voll were also lost.

There were efforts from the Heats’ batting line up but hardly a few strokes turned into fruitful runs. With Charli Knott batting and fierce game and Mikayla Hinkley batting, they were among the last few batters to contribute something to the lineup in the WBBL 2023.

Amazing bowling performance from Adelaide Strikers. The game couldn’t have possibly been better at their home ground. Amanda Wellington and Megan Schutt picked 3 wickets each. Aneshu Mushangwe, Jemma Barsby and Tahlia McGrath picked 1 each.

The Brisbane Heats were compelled to wrap up at 89 runs in 16 overs. They lost the game by a huge margin of 59 runs. A great win for the Adelaide Strikers. Bridget Patterson was named the Player of the Match.
