WBBL 2023: Day, Sutherland Star As Melbourne Stars Register An Impressive Win Over Perth Scorchers

A good game for Melbourne Stars who have successfully picked a close win over Perth Scorchers in the WBBL 2023. By a margin of merely 7 runs, the team has been able to secure the game at their home ground.

In the first inning, having won the toss, Melbourne Stars decided to bat first and Annabel Sutherland played her absolute best at a miraculous strike rate. While her contribution led the team to an impressive total, Sophie Day led the bowling attack from the forefront and picked 4 wickets to destroy the opponent’s batting lineup.

Collaborative efforts from the team and an amazing win for Melbourne Stars indeed in the WBBL 2023. Sophie Reid and Meg Lanning opened the bat for the Stars. While Lanning was bowled before wickets by Alana King, Reid went on to play a good game. Day picked 4 major wickets in the form of Chloe Piparo, Sophie Devine, Amy Jones and Amy Edgar. Annabel Sutherland also supported the bowler, picking two wickets herself and catching 2 batters on Day’s and Capsey’s delivery.

Maddy Darke from Perth Scorchers did try her level best at the chase of 155 runs. She secured 45 runs in 33 deliveries, but her wicket was lost to Sutherland. In the end, Alana King and Taneale Peschel tried their level best, but no major victory for the team.

Perth Scorchers by the end of 20 overs were able to secure 147 runs at a loss of 9 wickets. They lost a close game by a thin margin of just 7 runs. Alice Capsey, Annabel Sutherland and Sophie Day all bowled too well for the Perth Scorchers to escape from the bowling attack.
