The Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24 is all set to begin on 24th November 2023 and span till 4th December. The tournament will feature hand-picked players from the 37 teams of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2023-24 and has over 16 matches.
It will feature seasoned and young players from across the country battling it out across six zones of the league (i.e.) Central Zone, North Zone, South Zone, East Zone, West Zone and North East Zone.
Here are some of the top players to watch out for in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24:
Punam Raut (Central Zone)
The veteran India international has been one of the standout performers for Uttrakhand in the just concluded Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. Finding herself second on the list of leading run-getters, she amassed 367 runs averaging a healthy 45.8 through the tournament.
Striking at an impressive 109, she has proved herself as a valuable asset at the top of the order. Hitting the second most number of boundaries, she seemed at her attacking best and her ability to extract most from the surfaces through the tournament really set her apart.
Poonam Khemnar (Central Zone)
The Madhya Pradesh batter, Poonam Khemnar has had a year to remember. On the back of a splendid domestic season, she was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and was quite impressive. In this edition of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, she seemed at her fluent best scoring 329 runs ending as the third-highest run-getter.

With an average of 54 and a commendable strike rate of 139, she was able to bail her team out of tricky situations and lay the platform for decent batting performances. Her inclusion in the Central Zone could be important in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24 tournament.
Saika Ishaque (East Zone)
Another player who will keep the year 2023 close to her heart is Saika Ishaque who was not only one of the highest wicket-takers for Mumbai Indians in the WPL but also was on the fringes of India selections. In the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, she scalped 15 wickets averaging 8.22 and a strike rate of 11.22.
She also pocketed one four-wicket haul and was beautiful to watch in full flow. However, Saika is expected to play a key role for her side in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24.
Jintimani Kalita (East Zone)
The 19-year-old prodigy hailing from Assam has been a star unearthed as she has not just played some fascinating cricket but has impressed one and all. Another gem from the Mumbai Indians stable, she has been remarkable in her performances at the WPL and has consistently performed whenever her team needed her most.
With 15 wickets in 7 matches, she averaged 8.06 and struck at 9.53 and ended with two four-wicket hauls. Bowling in tandem with Saika Ishaque for the East Zone will be exciting to see in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24 tournament.
Shafali Verma (North Zone)
Known for her blistering starts and delightful batting performances, Shafali Verma was a player who not just made it count with the bat but also with the ball. Amassing 215 runs and scalping 10 wickets, one could see how her all-rounder self was coming to the fore as she looked to take on the bowlers at will and also chip in with her wily off-spin.
Captaining North Zone in this Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24, she will look to lead the side and contribute to the best of her capacities.
Vrinda Dinesh (South Zone)
Another star from Karnataka who has been making the right noises is Vrinda Dinesh. She scored 211 runs, averaging 35.17 and striking at an impressive 154. With three fifties to her credit, she struck the ball beautifully and seemed in control. With another stellar run in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24, rest assured a place in the team for the India tours and a WPL contract does not seem far away.
Special mention to Disha Kasat, Humairaa Kaazi, Kashvee Gautam, Shikha Pandey, Ekta Bisht and Sushma Verma who had memorable performances in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy and seeing them in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2023-24 will be an exciting prospect.
