PAK vs IRE: Pakistan opened their game series against Ireland with a banger, winning the first game by a huge difference. An amazing batting performance from the Pakistani batter led them to a convenient win over the Irish team. The 1st ODI game between Pakistan and Ireland was scheduled to be played in Lahore. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first against the Irish team. They went all in with the bat in their dominating the first inning and then gradually winning the game by a huge difference.
Muneeba Ali and Sidra Ameen opened bat for the Pakistani team. The two played an amazing inning, offering the required momentum, foundation, and structure for their batting inning. Some superb shots off their bats and an invincible partnership of 221 runs, relieved the team at the beginning itself. Ireland seemed to struggle with the ball in hand as the two hit a few shots every now and then, batting impressively and firmly against the Irish team.
Muneeba played a total of 107 runs. She played the major part of the game on her own at the beginning leading the team to a secured score. Ameen assisted the player and after her wicket in 35th over, at 221, Ameen offered the required runs, keeping up the momentum of the game. Muneeba was caught by Arlene Kelly on Eimear Richardson’s delivery. Aliya Riaz then joined Ameen and playing a few overs Ameen led the team to a total of 335 runs contributing a total of 176 runs.
Sidra Ameen played a fantabulous inning of 176 runs. She becomes among the few players to have reached the milestone of 150+ runs in ODI. She led the team to a huge total with the assistance of Muneeba Ali. Arlene Kelly secured 2 wickets, whereas Eimear Richardson secured 1 for the team. The Irish batting lineup seemed helpless, with such an amazing partnership displayed by the Pakistani openers.
A huge score for Ireland to secure in the second inning. They seemed to have been helpless with the opening pair losing early wickets in the form of Leah Paul and Gaby Lewis.
Fatima Sana and KainatImitiaz both secured early wickets, which led to the destruction of the Irish side. Laura Delany as always played an impressive inning. She played a total of 69 runs but was not very successful in keeping up her momentum and securing the required runs for the team. The team required huge runs to be chased and failed to keep up partnerships and a stable player to secure the runs. Struggling to manage the runs, Ireland wrapped up 207 runs in 49.3 overs. They lost all their wickets in the struggle to secure the runs.
Nida Dar shined in the second inning. She picked the major wickets in Orla Prendergast, Laura Delany and Jane Maguire. Her three-wicket haul was supported by Fatima Sana and Nashra Sandhu. They picked two wickets each and the opposition was destructed considerably.
A huge win for Pakistan. The series will go on and the Irish team will now only wish to make it better in the second game. Pakistan accordingly won by 128 runs. Sidra Ameen was named the Player of the Match for her top-notch performance.
