Watch: “Mujhe to easy laga” – Radha Yadav discusses her outstanding catch to dismiss Deepti Sharma

Radha Yadav took one of the catches of the tournament to dismiss Deepti Sharma as Delhi Capitals Women defeated UP Warriorz by 42 runs in match 5 of the WPL.

The Indian cricket team is not the best when it comes to fielding. However, there are a few players who are among the best in the world. Radha Yadav is certainly one of them.

On Tuesday, DC Women posted 211/4 in the stipulated 20 overs. Skipper Meg Lanning scored a sensational 42-ball 70 while blistering knocks from Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, and Jes Jonassen helped DCW get to the mammoth total. For UPW, Tahlia McGrath remained unbeaten on 90 off 50 balls but lacked support from the other end.

Radha Yadav took an incredibly well-judged catch to dismiss Deepti Sharma off the bowling of Shikha Pandey in the 11th over of the match. The experienced bowler bowled a slower ball in the hitting area. Deepti did not hit the ball from the sweet spot of the bat as Radha had to dive forward to take a memorable catch.

Speaking to DC, Radha said she felt that the catch seemed easy to her.

“Pata nahi yaar, mujhe to easy laga, pakadna to hai hi dekho (Well, I don’t know, it looked easy to me. See, I had to complete the catch).”

“Our captain Lanning is very easy-going, she backs us really well.” – Radha Yadav speaks about how well the team is gelling and the impact of Meg Lanning

Delhi Capitals Women have started the tournament brightly. They have won both their matches so far and are second on the table behind Mumbai Indians Women who have also won two matches but have a better net run rate.

Radha Yadav lauded skipper Meg Lanning for backing the team. Lanning recently led Australia to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title recently and has a lot of experience captaining teams.

“I think we are doing the small things right like backing and communicating with each other, so we are getting to see the results. Our captain Lanning is very easy-going, she backs us players really well.”

“We have not met previously but we are easily able to support, gel up and understand each other. I think it is a big plus point for us. We are also enjoying our game.”

DCW will face MIW in Navi Mumbai on Thursday in what promises to be an intriguing encounter.
