India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur becomes most capped T20I player, overtakes Rohit Sharma

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s side, broke the previous milestone for most T20I caps by setting a new one. Harmanpreet was featured last evening in her 149th T20I against England at St. George’s Park as part of the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian men’s team, had held a long-standing record that Harmanpreet has now beaten. A total of 148 T20Is have been played by Rohit for India.

During the elite global event, Harmanpreet is captaining India straight for the third time in a row in T20 World Cup 2023. In the shortest format, she had an incredible record, scoring 2989 runs at an average of 28.20 and a strike rate of 106.60. She has also lived a century.

Only days after being signed by the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction, Harmanpreet surpasses Rohit Sharma’s previous record. The MI men’s and women’s teams will now be led by Rohit and Harmanpreet in addition to the Indian team, respectively.

Suzie Bates and Danielle Wyatt from New Zealand have played 140 T20I games, each. But neither of them has the same level of expertise as Harmanpreet Kaur.

In the due course of her illustrious career, Harmanpreet has broken numerous records, including this one. For more than a decade, the Indian captain has been among the most reliable players in women’s cricket.

She was the first Indian to sign with an Australian side in the Women’s Big Bash League, and she has been an important member of the Indian team for a number of years now.

In the Indian team’s batting order, Harmanpreet has been a crucial piece, and her efforts with the bat have been priceless.

She holds the record for the greatest individual score in an ODI World Cup knockout match and is one of the few women’s cricket players to have achieved a century in T20I cricket.

As of now, Harmanpreet Kaur holds the title of the most seasoned T20I player. She is one of the most admired and lauded players in women’s cricket because of her accomplishments both as a player and as a captain, which are a testament to her talent and work ethic.

Cricket fans all over the world will be keeping an eye on her as she gets ready to captain the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League to see what more rests for her to achieve in her career.
