Mansi Joshi To Miss Women’s T20 Challenge, Meghna Singh Replaces Her In Velocity Squad

India speedster Mansi Joshi has tested positive for the global pandemic novel COVID-19. While she didn’t go to Mumbai to undergo their mandatory nine-day quarantine period, uncapped pace bowler Meghna Singh has replaced her in the Velocity squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 Challenge.

The round-robin tournament will be played in the UAE from November 4 to November 9 during the playoffs’ of the ongoing 2020 IPL. Meanwhile, after finishing their mandatory quarantine period in Mumbai, they will fly to UAE on October 21 where they will undergo a mandatory six-day quarantine at the team hotel as well. At that time, the tests will take place too on the days one, three and five.

On the other hand, Mansi Joshi, who has played for India in 11 ODIs and 8 T20Is since her debut for the nation in 2016, has been in the home quarantine in Dehradun.

As far as Meghna Singh is concerned, the speedster has shown a great show with the ball for her domestic side UP in the 2019-20 domestic season. She claimed eight wickets in seven games in the one-day tournament with the best – 3/27 against Saurashtra. In T20 tournament, she picked up a whopping 13 wickets with the best – 4/9 against Karnataka and the second best was 3/24 against Andhra.

She will join the Mithali Raj led Velocity pace attack for the Women’s T20 Challenge which comprised of Shikha Pandey, Manali Dakshini and Jahanara Alam. Notably, the Indian team last featured in early March when they played against Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup Final. Since then they haven’t taken part in a single which was put on a halt owing to COVID-19

“The players were training at their respective states and once they reach the UAE, there will be enough training sessions for them,” a senior Board official informed Sportstar.
