Ireland sealed yet another convincing 42-run victory against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, on Sunday ensuring a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Ireland batting first posted a comprehensive 172/3 on the board with Amy Hunter once again chipping in with a 77*, Gaby Lewis scoring 44 and an inspired 37 by Orla Prendergast to wrap up the proceedings rendering the Zimbabwe bowling ineffective.
Zimbabwe, in return, could muster only 130/8 on the board even though Kellies Ndlovu showed some fight with a 41-ball 52 but the rest of the batting could not survive the might of Ireland.
Earlier, in the day Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bowl first. Ireland was off to a positive start with Amy Hunter and Gaby Lewis striking the ball beautifully. Not just scoring boundaries at will but with the constant rotation of strikes between the batters, ensuring that Ireland was on track for another massive total.
Our opening pair still intact at the end of the power play 👊

While Amy Hunter was the attacking partner for the better half of their dynamic partnership, Gaby Lewis with her calm and collected presence ensured a perfect partner in the 84-run stand. However, that glowing partnership was brought to an end by Lindokuhle Mabhero as she got rid of Lewis for 44.
Even as Hunter held the proceedings from one end plundering the hapless Zimbabwe bowlers, Orla Prendergast the new batter also got into the act. She scored a quickfire 37 off 17 and with Hunter ending on an unbeaten 77- Ireland posted 172/3 on the board. For Zimbabwe, it was Precious Marange and Lindokuhle Mabhero who could inflict some threat on the Irish bowlers who scalped a wicket each.
*END OF THE INNINGS*

In the subsequent run-chase, Zimbabwe had the experienced duo of Kellies Ndlovu and skipper Marry-Anne Musonda kickstart the proceedings. While the skipper was undone by Ava Canning for 17, Ndlovu and Pellagia Mujaji carried on with the momentum and batted on till the 13th over.
However, it was a run out that shook things up as Georgina Dempsey affected a run out of Mujaji and eventually with the new batters Chiedza Dhururu and Loreen Thsuma fell for 1 and 0 respectively, Zimbabwe started losing the plot.
Kellies Ndlovu’s dismissal was the final nail in the coffin as she was out for a well-played 52 but with the rest of the batting collapsing with no batter getting across a double-digit score, Zimbabwe lost four wickets in a span of 14 runs and 3 overs which eventually reflected in the result as they were handed a soul-crushing 42 runs defeat.
Absolutely love this 🥰
