On Tuesday, March 12, Mumbai Indians will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 19 of the Women’s Premier League 2024 (WPL 2024) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Mumbai Indians have already qualified for the playoffs with a resounding victory against Gujarat Giants. Whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore have made their fans pick calculators again, as their playoff spot depends on the outcomes of other matches.
Mumbai Indians’ strong batting line-up led by Harmanpreet Kaur has come to the rescue for the team, with the star players stepping up on many occasions and making every penny count. In the seven matches they have played, they have won five and lost two games. They became the first team to qualify for playoffs and are in the second spot in the points table.
Harmanpreet Kaur played arguably the best individual innings of the WPL 2024, scoring 95 off 48, to single-handedly help her team chase down a 191-run target against Gujarat Giants in their previous match. Earlier, while bowling first in this contest, Shabnim Ismail and Saika Ishaque delivered splendid spells, but the rest of the MI bowlers conceded runs plenty and needed to perform better in this fixture.
On the other hand, RCB struggled to maintain momentum as they lost a close encounter against Delhi Capitals by just one run recently. RCB have showcased a mixed show in the league, in the seven games they have played, the women in red have lost four and won three. They are currently placed at the third position on the WPL points table.
Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Smriti Mandhana have a strong batting unit and they have piled up gigantic totals in some games. They have a strong set of top-order batters. Richa Ghosh played incredibly well in the latter stages of RCB innings, scoring a fifty against DC, but she couldn’t take them over the line while chasing a big target. In the bowling effort, Shreyanka Patil picked up four key wickets, but still, the rest of the bowlers weren’t at their best.

Royal Challengers Bangalore
- Richa Ghosh – She has been doing great with the bat in the middle order. She played an impactful knock in the last match. However, she could not lead the team to a win. Given her current form, Richa could be proven as one of the most important players for RCB in this must-win encounter.
- Smriti Mandhana – She has been in good touch with the bat. However, in the last couple of games, Mandhana has failed to convert her starts. But given the form she is carrying, the Bangalore skipper will be a good pick for the match. She will aim for an explosive start for the team in this game against MI.
