WPL 2024: Delhi Capitals having won a close game against the RCB, have cleared it to the playoffs for the second edition of the WPL. A massive win for the Capitals’ defending their score against RCB and securing the game by a run. Post-match, two young stars of Delhi, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma, relived the game sharing some close moments and unforgettable moments of the game.

Jemimah shared that the victory was special. She stated, “The wicket was running slow and conversations with Capsey (Alice Capsey), who asked me to remain positive and keep running well, boundaries will follow in between.”

Jemimah Rodrigues won the Player of the Match for a special win that has now qualified. The two played for an incredible partnership of 90+ runs. Delhi Capitals is now topping the table. Jemimah Rodrigues said, “It feels good. We have played three last ball thriller games and finally one has gone in our favour. The coming two days, we can recover mentally.”

Rodrigues also praised the team for collaborative efforts stating, “It’s an entire team’s effort. Shikha di (Shikha Pandey) bowling in the 16^th over was the turning point. That set the tone against two greatest hitters of women cricket, Richa (Ghosh) and Sophie Devine. Meg (Lanning) contributed, Alice played a different role, even Aru (Arundhati Reddy) and Radha (Yadav), even JJ (Jess Jonassen) bowling the final over and Shafali getting the run out at the end.”

Shafali Verma’s run out in the last over. She elaborated on her experience stating, “The bowl was coming my way and I throw it. When a bowler runs after hitting, they run slow, so I thought I should throw a bowling hand.” It was exemplary of Shafali’s presence of mind.

With a great win against RCB, Delhi Capitals now stand on the top of the table.
