Delhi Capitals will now be entering the auction pool with a sum of Rs. 2.25 Crores, 3 available slots and 1 overseas slot to fill up in this mini-auction.
With the retained core, let us delve into the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Analysis to understand this better
The leadership of Meg Lanning certainly has to be a massive bonus. She is one of the finest captains if not the best in the world of women’s cricket and with an impressive CV with Australia to boast off, she easily is one of the most valuable players for Delhi Capitals who leads from the front.
The likes of Laura Harris in the set-up add a lot of balance to the side and most importantly, Delhi Capitals also has a fine mix of youth and experience. With youngsters like Alice Capsey, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues shoring up the batting, there is Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, and Shikha Pandey to strengthen the bowling attack. This makes their unit well-balanced and one to scare any team on a given day.
One weakness that can be concerning for Delhi Capitals has to be how they lack a good wicketkeeper batter option. Taniyaa Bhatia is a skilful keeper but her batting averages have been poor which can make their batting in the lower middle order quite fragile and concerning in case of a batting collapse.
Delhi Capitals has the perfect opportunity this season to lay their hands on a coveted trophy provided they can tick the boxes across all departments and have a collectively good performance. For Meg Lanning, it is another opportunity to guide her team to glory in the WPL 2024, a title that eludes her and her franchise.
With the team also featuring a lot of domestic stars, this is the ideal opportunity for them to shine on the global stage, especially the likes of Minnu Mani, Sneha Deepthi and Titas Sadhu who have only risen from strength to strength. With Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma also rolling their arms in recent times, it will be fascinating to see them in action and provide an X factor to the playing 11.
Although, their bowling seems well-rounded with Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav having not-so-promising returns in recent times; the onus will be on Jess Jonassen, and Marizanne Kapp to deliver. Titas Sadhu, Shikha Pandey and the out of favour Poonam Yadav will also have to step up and take responsibility to deliver for the team.

What they will need to cover at the auctions of WPL 2024?
With three available spots, and one overseas player slot left DC can aspire to acquire the services of:
- A premium pace bowling option: This will be the need of the hour, as complementing Marizanne Kapp from the other end is the only way to go.
- A spinner: With Jess Jonassen, another spinner can certainly add a lot of value and dimension to the attack.
- A wicket-keeper batter: An area of concern for the DC has been the lack of a good quality wicket-keeper batter and in this auction, they would look to acquire the services of one
