The Hundred 2023: Taking A Look At The Retentions List

The Hundred is a competition that has been a successful venture for England cricket as fans have loved the new format of the game. In the women’s competition of The Hundred 2023, each team was allowed to retain four players from their 2022 squad, with a maximum of three ‘marquee’ players – either two overseas players and one player contracted to England, or vice versa.

All the teams did all their research and negotiated with players and their agents before finally naming their retentions on Tuesday night as the retention window drew to a close. ESPNcricinfo revealed earlier this week that many prolific Australian players will miss the competition that begins on August 1. Proven performers like Beth Mooney, Meg Lanning, and Tahlia McGrath have been released because of the same reason.
