South Zone was handed their second consecutive loss this Senior Women’s Inter Zonal One Day Trophy as they were outclassed by Central Zone at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. South Zone won the toss and elected to bat first. Off to a tricky start losing the prolific Sneha Deepthi was far from ideal as she was dismissed for a seven-ball duck. With M Durga run out subsequently and G Trisha also unable to capitalise, South Zone was reeling with three wickets down.

The duo of Shrey and Sajana S then joined hands to stitch a commendable partnership of 36 which came from 71 balls and as Shrey was dismissed for 51-ball 23, Sajana batted on and made her stay count as she brought up a crucial knock of 85 from 101 balls.

Arundhati Reddy provided some much-needed resistance with a knock of 55 and was instrumental in bringing up a 112-run partnership with Sajana, however with no support from the lower middle order or the tail- they were out-dismissed for 216. Central Zone had Meghna Singh, Tanuja P Kanwer and Poonam Yadav scalp two wickets apiece and with Nikita Singh and Sonam Yadav taking a wicket each, it was a more than commendable batting effort.

In the subsequent run-chase, it was Nuzhat Parween who led from the front with a knock of 40 from 75 and even though A D Garg was dismissed for 13 with Mona Meshram out for 11, the brilliantly crafted knocks of 80 off 74 from Dayalan Hemalatha and BS Fulmali’s 53 paved the way for this crucial win.

North Zone vs East Zone: East Zone Won by 194 Runs

North Zone was handed a rude shock courtesy of a blistering performance by East Zone who were clinical in pulling off a 194-run win at the Darshanam Sports and Education Academy in Vadodara.

North Zone won the toss and elected to field first. East Zone had a field day batting first as they mounted a big total of 307/9. Although the openers Mouchaity Debnath and skipper Deepti Sharma were dismissed early on, it was Richa Ghosh who batted with a lot of freedom and showed her worth as a reliable #3.

Pummelling 14 boundaries in a majestic 124-run knock, Richa looked at her attacking best and was partnered by Uma Chetry who scored 44. After their dismissals, no contributions were coming in from Mita Paul and Ashwani but with Sushree Dibyadarshini’s 36 and Titas Sadhu’s 26, East Zone reached a competitive total. Even though East Zone attacked from ball 1, North Zone had Mannat Kashyap scalp four wickets with Tanisha Ohlan and Chitra Singh Jamwal scalping two wickets.

North Zone had a forgettable outing with the bat as Shweta Sehrawat was dismissed early on for 5 and with Shafali Verma out for 26, it was far from the ideal start. With Neena M Chaudhary run out for 2 and Chitra Singh Jamwal also dismissed similarly, a batting collapse was on the cards.

With Tanisha Ohlan batting it out, grinding to a 55-ball 25 with support from Sushma Verma, their dismissals spelt the demise of any possible comeback in the run-chase. With Laxmi Yadav run out again for 1, the rest of the tailenders were dismissed cheaply for 113 and East Zone sealed a comprehensive 194-run win. East Zone had Deepti Sharma stand out with her two wickets, even as Titas Sadhu, Durga Murmu, Devyani and Mita Paul chipped in with two wickets.

West Zone vs North East Zone- West Zone Won by 332 Runs

In a lopsided drubbing, West Zone handed North East Zone a massive 332-run defeat at the GSFC Cricket Ground. West Zone stuck to the script and opted to bat first. West Zone had the most impressive returns with the bat as T S Hasabnis and Yastika Bhati started off with magnificent run scoring. Even as Yastika was dismissed for 38, Hasabnis was joined by Humairaa Kaazi. The duo pummelled the bowling and before Hasabnis could get to a century, she was LBW dismissed by Pramila.

Kaazi carried on with support from SS Shinde and stitched a 68-run partnership. With Kaazi dismissed for 51, it was valuable knocks from Radha Yadav who scored 76 and Patil’s 68 who also cemented a partnership of 138 off 81, that got West Zone beyond the 300 run mark. With final finishes from Sayali Satghare who scored 16, a monstrous total of 393/9 was achieved. For North East Zone, it was D D Dutta who starred with four wickets.

In reply, West Zone made mincemeat of North East Zone skittling them for 61 as no other batter barring Felfel Pautu and Mp Singson could score beyond the two-digit figures which meant they slipped to a 332 run thrashing. West Zone had A A Patil shine with four wickets, Radha Yadav with three, N Y Patel with two and Sayali Satghare scalping one to round off a memorable win.
