On Thursday, December 28, Darcie Brown took an outstanding catch to dismiss India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in the first match of three-match ODI series at the Wankhede Stadium. The right-handed Indian batter got out for just nine runs off 17 balls, which included a boundary.
The brilliant dismissal happened in the 13th over of India innings. Australian bowler Ashleigh Gardner bowled a tossed-up delivery and Harmanpreet Kaur looked to sweep it but ended with a top edge instead. Darcie Brown fielding at short fine, dived to her left and grabbed the ball to complete a stunning catch.
Darcie Brown provided the first breakthrough for her team dismissing Shafali Verma with a corker for just one run. India finished for 282/8 in their 50 overs credit to Jemimah Rodrigues’s 82 run knock and Pooja Vastrakar’s 62 run contribution that came later in the innings.
