BAN vs IND: After having lost their first game against Bangladesh, India emerged better and stronger in the second game. Winning their game by a huge margin of 108 runs, the game has been tied to 1-1 so far, with a match to spare. Jemimah Rodrigues played an extraordinary game today, with both bat and ball in hand. The youngster helped India set the required score in the first inning and then restricted the opponents from chasing the score down.
The game at Bangladesh’s Sher-E-Bangla began with Bangladesh winning the toss and opting to field first. Thus, India’s Smriti Mandhana and Priya Punia opened the batting but they weren’t quite successful in setting a score. Yastika Bhatia too was lost early in the game. With an unstable beginning to the inning, at 40/2, Harmanpreet Kaur came in to bat. She secured a total of 52 runs which added to the total score, helping India reach a secured total.
Harmanpreet Kaur brought the required momentum to the game, while Jemimah Rodrigues joined her and helped the team reach a higher score. Jemimah played at a fabulous rate of 110 and secured 86 runs in all. This helped India cross the 200 runs mark and with Harleen Deol’s last few runs’ contribution, the team was able to reach a safe target of 228 in 50 overs.
A defendable score for India. But not to forget the strong bowling opposition from Bangladesh. They secured a few quick wickets, especially from the opening batters. Sultana Khatun and Nahida Akter, both secured 2 wickets each. With this, Bangladesh needed 229 runs to secure the game in 50 overs.
Bangladesh too was off to a slow start. While Murshida Khatun and Sharmin Akter opened the bat for Bangladesh, they weren’t able to give the team the required foundation. Murshida was sent back on Meghna’s delivery, while Sharmin Akter was bowled before the wicket by Deepti Sharma. Fargana Hoque came in to bat and secured 47 runs in 81 deliveries. She provided the required momentum for the run chase, giving the team some ray of hope. She played with Ritu Moni for a few overs but lost her wicket to Devika Vaidya.

The Bangladeshi batting lineup was destroyed by the Indian bowlers. The lower batting order wasn’t able to contribute much. They couldn’t hold ground due to frequently lost wickets. They were able to secure just 120 runs in 35 overs. They lost all their wickets, failing to play a complete game.

She helped the team secure wickets in the end of the inning, by destroying the lower batting order. Devika Vaidya picked three wickets which included some major batters like Fargana Hoque and Rabeya Khatun.
With this India won their game against Bangladesh after losing the first one. Jemimah Rodrigues for her impressive batting and bowling was named the Player of the Match.
