India and Malaysia are all set to play against each other in the 1st Quarterfinal of the Asian Games 2023. The Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou will host this clash on Thursday, September 21 as well. Smriti Mandhana will lead the team in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur, who is on a two-match ban suspension after her outburst against the umpires following the Bangladesh ODI series.
All-rounder Pooja Vastrakar, who was earlier in the travelling reserves, has come in as the replacement for injured pacer, Anjali Sarvani. And, India will rely on the duo of Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues in the top order. As far as the Malaysia team are concerned, they will be high on confidence after beating Hong Kong by 22 runs in their last game. And, it will be interesting to see how they perform.
