Bangladesh Players to Start Their Individual Practice Session from August 10

Bangladesh players will join the second phase of the individual practice session from today (August 10) – arranged by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, the men’s team players have already participated in the first phase of the practice session.

Notably, nine players will begin their individual practice session across three venues. Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka, Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna and Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra are the three venues which have selected for them.

The fast bowler Jahanara Alam, all-rounder Lata Mondol, spinner Nahida Akter and batters Sharmin Akter Supta and Shamima Sultana will do their session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. On the other hand, veteran all-rounder Rumana Ahmed and T20I captain Salma Khatun will train at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.

Meanwhile, spinner Khadija Tul Kubra and the batter Sharmin Sultana will train at Shaheed Chandu Stadium at Bogra according to the given schedule by the BCB.

The decision was taken after Rumana Ahmed shared her frustration over BCB’s planning to resume their training. She shared her fear about the current stagnant phase of women’s cricket that might increase amid this COVID-19 affected situation.

“Talks of men’s team’s tour for Sri Lanka is on, even their training might start in coming days. When we asked the officials [about training], they used to say after Eid. We are not getting any clear indication about how our activities will resume,” Rumana Ahmed told a leading English daily newspaper – New Age.

However, Rumana has already started her individual training earlier at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna even before the men cricketers.

“I started Individual training before them [men’s cricketers]. I did it early in the morning. I used to finish my routine before their time-slot. I also brought home some gym equipment for weight training,” said Rumana to the daily.
