The Hundred 2023 tournament started on a high note for the Southern Braves, who have secured the series’ inaugural game against Trent Rockets. Winning the game by a convincing margin, the team was able to achieve a point and lead the table on the very first day.
Huge success is expected from the series, with each team giving their level bests. The first game at Nottingham, began with Trent Rockets winning the toss and deciding to chase. The best of the Braves, Smriti Mandhana and Danny Wyatt opened the bat.
The two gave the team an interesting, well-deserved start. Their runs were crucial for laying the required foundation for the team. Danny Wyatt lost her wicket securing 27 runs in 27 deliveries. A good game by Wyatt playing at a strike rate of 100 but lost her wicket on Bryony Smith’s delivery.

Bouchier secured 31 runs and with Chloe Tryon securing the last 23 runs, the team wrapped their total score at 157 at a loss of 6 wickets.
Bryony Smith played an important spell, securing the wickets of two well-set batters, who opened the game and played a quick game. Kirstie Gordon also bowled really well, securing a wicket and bowling at a low economy.

With 158 runs to chase in 20 overs, the Trent Rockets started off on a low note, with Bryony Smith losing her early wicket. The batter ran out on a golden duck, which gave the team a disappointing start. Lizelle Lee and Naomi Dattani continued the play but weren’t able to secure many runs.
Natalie Sciver played a single-handed inning, which seemed dependable, but the wickets lost on the other side of the pitch were disappointing indeed. Trent Rockets was in a weak position, with not many dependable batters and a loss of partnerships in all. Sciver secured 49 runs altogether and batted at a brilliant strike rate of 158. Hamranpreet Kaur also secured 22 runs, but the team fell short of a few deliveries and lost the game by a margin of 27 runs.
