The Hundred 2023: Southern Brave Register A Thrilling Win Over London Spirit

The 11th game of The Hundred 2023, between Southern Brave and London Spirit was a major success for the Brave as they disrupted the Spirit and won the game by 5 wickets. The game was brought down to 85 balls on each side due to a rain delay. Major contributions from the bowlers of both sides in The Hundred 2023, especially Georgia Adams and Sarah Glenn. Amazing efforts from Maia Bouchier as she sealed the game for the Brave with her steady half-century, leading them to a convenient win.

The game of the London’s, Lord’s was a spectacle for all. A decent target was set and conveniently chased in the second innings. Southern Braves won the toss and elected to bowl first. Grace Harris opened the bat with Danielle Gibson, but hard luck for the player as she was bowled by Lauren Bell on the 4th delivery itself in The Hundred 2023.

Danielle Gibson then held her ground and continued with the Spirit’s captain, Heather Knight. The two scored the majority of runs for the team, forming a reliable partnership and contributing 40-plus runs in The Hundred 2023.

Gibson played a slow but steady game of 28 runs. She was lost too soon to Georgia Adams. Heather Knight carried the game forward, securing the maximum runs for her team. Knight secured 44 runs in just 27 deliveries. With Grace Scriven’s final few runs, the team was led to a total of 104 runs in 85 balls in The Hundred 2023.

Georgia Adams shined indeed, securing the major wickets and restricting the opponents to a low score. She picked a total of 4 wickets which included the likes of Danielle Gibson, Heather Knight, Amelia Kerr and Richa Ghosh. Ghosh and Kerr were lost too early. They were not able to secure runs for the team, which was a disappointment for many.

An easy score for the Braves to chase. Smriti Mandhana opened the bat but wasn’t able to any runs for the team. She lost her wicket to Danielle Gibson on the 3rd delivery itself for a duck. The game was carried further by Danielle Wyatt and Maia Bouchier. Bouchier played a lion’s share in the team’s success in The Hundred 2023.

Bouchier secured a total of 63 runs in 42 deliveries which was more than half the share of the runs expected to be chased. She played at an impressive strike rate of 150 which helped the team secure the score in the given overs despite of the wickets lost on the other side of the strike.

Maitlan Brown secured the final 15 runs for the team and the team sealed the score by putting together a total of 108 at a loss of 5 wickets. The target was chased down in 16.2 overs and the team won the game against the host with 4 deliveries to spare.

Good bowling efforts from the Braves. Sarah Glenn picked a total of 3 wickets at an economy of just 3.7 runs per over. Great efforts from the Spirits but hard luck in the game. The team will look forward to emerging stronger in the upcoming games of The Hundred 2023.
