The players have assembled for the first ever season of Women’s Premier League. The Mumbai Indians team has extended a special welcome to their captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
The Women’s Premier League is set to take stage from 4th of March. Harmanpreet will be leading Mumbai Indians in the inaugural season. Kaur was signed for a whooping 1.8 crore and will be seen shouldering a major responsibility and guiding her young squad through the highs and lows of the game.
Just recently the player returned from her T20 World Cup tour. The team as a whole, played an impressive group stage game at the World Cup under Harmanpreet’s leadership. Yet the team wasn’t able to secure their semi-finals against Australia and lost the game by a close margin of 5 runs.
Harmanpreet was heart-broken after having come so far. Her performance throughout the series was laudable indeed. At the semi-finals, she played a captain’s share and yet the team was exposed to a defeat. She faced the camera, post-game, with glasses covering her teary eyes.
Much is now expected from the player now as she heads towards the Women’s Premier League. She has entered the team with much hopes, making an effort to keep up with the legacy of the team.
Mumbai Indians has also offered a heart-warming welcome to the captain, saying, “Harman Aali Re,” roughly translated to “Harman is here.”
