AUS vs WI 1st ODI: A destructive game for the West Indies as they had to face a huge defeat against Australia in the very first ODI game. The Australian team and their tireless bowling efforts came to fruition as they destroyed the batting order of the opponents and easily secured the low score set to win the game.

The game at Brisbane was a total disappointment for West Indies. Winning the toss, Australia made a fair decision by bowling first. Zaida James and Djenaba Joseph opened bat for West Indies. There seemed to have been no major success for the entire batting order. They kept losing quick wickets against the masterclass bowling.

Kim Garth had two major batters, i.e. Djenaba Joseph and Rashada Williams for a duck. Zaida James too, was lost very early on Megan Schutt’s delivery. While Stefanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle were trying to gather a few runs, their wickets were strategically fetched by Ashleigh Gardener.

No major success for the entire West Indies batting line-up. Aaliyah Alleyne played the last few deliveries and secured 35 runs in 39 deliveries. The team was completely demolished and the team was able to secure just 83 runs in 17.3 overs. The team lost all their wickets to bowlers like Kim Garth, Megan Schutt, Georgia Wareham and Ashleigh Gardener. Gardener and Wareham picked two wickets each, while Garth picked 3.

A convenient chase for Australia. They needed 84 runs off 50 overs. Strong performance from Alyssa Healy who opened bat with Pheobe Litchfield. Litchfield secured 16 runs and Healy secured 38 runs. The two offered a strong foundation for the team and the Australian batters with low scores to chase, played an easy, confident game.

With Healy’s wickets, Ellyse Perry came into bat and secured 20 runs. At Litchfield’s wickets, Perry was accompanied by Beth Mooney and they secured the last required runs and won the game sparing 8 wickets in just 14.5 overs.

One wicket each for Cherry Ann Fraser and Karishma Ramharack. Poor batting performance from West Indies. They fell short of runs in the first inning, which lost them their first ODI game against Australia.

Alyssa Healy was named the Player of the Match for her strike rate of 105, securing 38 runs in 36 deliveries.
