Grace Harris and Kiran Navgire lead Warriorz to their first triumph in the WPL 2024. They easily defeat the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets with 21 balls remaining. Grace Harris ensures that Warriorz does not miss Navgire’s onslaught by scoring 57 runs while mocking MI bowlers.
Healy won the toss and UP Warriorz invited Mumbai Indians opening duo Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews to kick the game off. The first four overs could only see a slow run rate as both the batters were taking time to figure out the gaps with only a single boundary coming from the bat of Matthews in the fourth over, but Bhatia took the charge in the next over to bring three boundaries.
And there was Matthews joining hands with Bhatia to give Warriorz further jolts with her tremendously powerful smashes bringing up boundaries and her first maximum in the seventh over. But the well-built partnership of 50 gave way amid the cheers as Bhatia had to leave the party of runs at 26 off 22 in the eighth over.
Nat Sciver-Brunt started charging right from the beginning as she collected her first boundary in the ninth over which was followed by a Matthews-dominated tenth over with three boundaries and that was in turn contemplated by another boundary from the bat of Brunt. Just as things were building well again for Mumbai, Brunt saw her unfortunate run-out in the 13th over.
Issy Wong comes into bat and dispatches her first delivery for a maximum👌👌

The wicket of Brunt brought MI on the backfoot as Rajeshwari Gayakwad gave Warriorz the much-needed breakthrough in the name of Matthews in the 15th over at a wonderful score of 55 off 47 balls. Amelia Kerr was the new down on the crease and started swinging her bat right from her ascent that commenced with a massive six in the 17th over followed by a boundary in the same over.

Then there was Kerr’s wicket all of a sudden in the 18th over as she met her LBW, but Issy Wong came down and flicked the pressure away with her first-ball maximum in the same over. But Pooja Vastrakar had to finally depart on the last ball of the 19th over. But the last over too concluded on a mixed note of two boundaries, one from Wong and the other from Sajeevan Sajana which was further followed by Sajana’s wicket on the fifth ball of the last over that concluded the scoreboard at 161 for the loss of 6.
Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire were up on the crease with the chase on kicking it in style as Healy collected two boundaries in the very first over and there was Navgire who picked Issy Wong majorly to get four boundaries off her over and then was her outstanding first maximum of the match for her team that came in the sixth over to sum up the scoreboard at 61 and her second in the seventh over.

Navgire was on a firestorm as she came up with a couple of back-to-back sixes in the eight over to result in the scoreboard at 90 for no loss at the end of eight overs. And then a fierce knock of 57 finally came to an end on the first ball of the tenth over followed by two close fall of wickets in the names of Tahlia McGrath (1 off 4) and Alyssa Healy (33 off 29).
Although three wickets faded away in close succession, but Grace Harris managed to get along with the momentum picking it up quick enough to score consecutive boundaries in the twelfth and thirteenth over joining hands with Deepti Sharma who herself contemplated Harris with a boundary. Harris too came up confidently with her first maximum in the 14th over. And a continuous rain of boundaries by both of the batters solidified the win for Warriorz in the 17th over.
