Women’s T20 Tri-Series: “You Should Ask Jemimah Rodrigues for the Instagram Tips” – Smriti Mandhana

Before the ICC World T20 2020, three of the best teams – India, Australia and England have been playing with each other in the T20 Tri-series in Australia. While the first half of the series have been played in Canberra, the second half started in Melbourne with India and England taking on each other. After a stable knock in the game, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana shared her views on the game.

Put into bat first, India posted a rather below-par total – 123 in their allotted 20 overs. Once again, their middle-order crumbled under the pressure. Smriti Mandhana, while opening the innings, provided with a steady start alongside Shafali Verma.

But the onus was on her only as Verma got out for mere 8. Jemimah Rodrigues joined Mandhana in the middle and the duo stitched 23 runs before Mandhana got out. She took on every bowler, be it England’s pace spearhead Katherine Brunt or spinner Sophie Ecclestone.

Smriti Mandhana contributed well with 45 runs which came off 40 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six. After her dismissal, she spoke to Erin Holland, the presenter and shared her views on the game.

“I was going on well. Would have loved to continue. The way I got out, I think I shouldn’t have got out at that time, but yeah, we are going well,” she said on her dismissal.

However, she said that the wicket is helping the batters and bowlers are also getting help from that.

“It’s a good batting wicket, but some aren’t coming well. So it’s not fully a flat wicket. It has something for the bowlers as well,” added the stylish left-handed opener.

“We have not thought about win or loss. We aim to go out there and look to play our best cricket as much as we can. Really not looking at what we have done at past. We have learnt from our mistakes and hopefully, we will do better today,” Smriti Mandhana shared.

Meanwhile, her popularity has come in the limelight too as she has 1.7M followers on Instagram. But the opener said she’s not a pro about this. Her teammate Jemimah Rodrigues helped her at times.

“I’m very bad with Instagram. Jemimah tries to post for me at times and gives caption because I am very at it. I think you should ask her for the tips because I am not that great with Instagram,” concluded Smriti Mandhana.
