Women’s Premier League 2023 Auction: Here Is All You Need To Know About Venue, Team Purse, Base Price, Teams, Live Streaming

The women’s Premier League 2023 Player Auction list has been announced recently which is all set to take place in Mumbai on February 13. The inaugural edition of the league will be played in Mumbai from 4th – 26th March 2023. A total of 22 matches will be played with the Brabourne Stadium & D.Y. Patil Stadium playing hosts to the marquee tournament as well.

The Women’s Premier League Player Auction list is out with a total of 449 cricketers who are all set to go under the hammer at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on February 13th, 2023. A total of 1525 players have registered for the inaugural Women’s Premier League Player Auction as well.

Out of 409 players, 246 are Indians and 163 are overseas players of which 8 players are from associate nations as well. The total number of capped players are 202, uncapped players are 199 and 8 are from associate nations also. Meanwhile, a maximum of 90 slots are available with the five teams, with 30 being reserved for overseas players as well.

INR 50 Lakhs is the highest reserve price with 24 players choosing to be slotted in the highest bracket. Team India Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and India’s Under-19 T20 World Cup-winning captain Shafali Verma are among the few Indians who have slotted themselves in the highest bracket.

13 overseas players have also kept themselves under the INR 50 Lakh reserve price with the likes of Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine & Deandra Dottin etc. 30 players are in the auction list with a base price of INR 40 Lakh as well. And, the Auction will start at 14:30 IST.

However, Bengaluru, Gujarat, Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai will participate in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League 2023. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah had shared earlier that the Board has garnered a whopping Rs 4,669.99 crore in total bids for the franchises during the auction process for its inaugural Women’s Premier League.

Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd spent a massive Rs 1,289 crore for the Ahmedabad franchise, while Indiawin Sports Pvt Ltd bagged the Mumbai franchise for Rs 912.99 crore as well. Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, owners of RCB, bought the Bengaluru team for a whopping Rs 901 crore. Capri Global bought Lucknow for Rs 757 crore, and JSW bought Delhi for Rs 810 crore as well.

Here is all you need to know about the inaugural Women’s Premier League 2023 auction:

Date: Monday, February 13.

Place: Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai

Franchises: Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz.

Purse of each team: 12 crore each

Players to buy: Each team must purchase between 15 and 18 players, seven of whom can be overseas players.

Base price: Rs 30 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (capped player)

Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (uncapped player)

Live Streaming: Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 auctions can be watched live on Sports 18 TV channels. It will be live-streamed on Jio Cinema Website and App.
