Player of the Match Tahlia McGrath was required to use only her batting skills today to take Australia to the finish line and win the multi-format Series with one last match to go. Tahlia played a match-winning inning of 42 off 33 balls to get Australia in a comfortable state and win the match.
“It took long to get the T20 debut but m happy pretty special match and special to wrap up the series. Bowlers set it up at the start. India bowled really well early and we’re pretty happy to get away with a win and a series win. The conditions were a little bit trickier than we expected,” said Tahlia McGrath.
Beth Mooney was another batter who kept the innings intact to lead into the final overs. When Tahlia McGrath walked in, Beth was on the other end. “Mooney said just get in. Wicket was a bit tricky. It was tricky whether to try and get run rate as close or go for a big over. Mooney guided it’s a lot easier than the 50 over match. It was just run a ball needed at that stage. I backed the basics, get myself in and went on form there,” she shared.
“I was disappointed when I got out in the 2nd ODI and was not able to do much. We had 8 bowlers out of the 11 who could ball. Even if I didn’t bowl, I am Happy as long as I am in the playing 11 and able to contribute to the win”. McGrath further added “One more job to be done tomorrow. We want to enjoy playing together before we part our ways for WBBL.”
As all the shift starts to move to WBBL, Tahlia McGrath mentioned, “Having Indians in the league is great. Having played in ODIs and WBBL earlier all helps in gaining the confidence.”
