WBBL 2022: Match 8 of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2022 will see Hobart Hurricanes taking on Perth Scorchers at the Blacktown International Sportspark in Sydney. Hobart Hurricanes faced the Sydney Thunder in their first match where a solid all-round performance witnessed the Hurricanes beat Thunder with ease to have a winning start to the tournament as well.
After being asked to bat first, Mignon du Preez (33), Rachel Trenaman (31) and Lizelle Lee (25) helped the Hurricanes put up 125 on the board. Molly Strano and Heather Graham claimed three wickets each with the ball as they restricted Thunder to 106 to win the game by 19 runs as well.
Perth Scorchers, on the other hand, beat Sydney Thunder Women in their opening game to start their title defence on a winning note as well. The Scorchers’ bowlers bowled quite well and didn’t allow the Thunder to score well. Lilly Mills, Marizanne Kapp, and Alana King scalped two wickets apiece as they restricted Thunder to 88/8 at the end of their 20 overs as well. Captain Sophie Devine then led the charge with the bat as she remained unbeaten on 44 to take her team across the line in the 15th over. And, the Scorchers will be high on confidence and will look to keep their momentum on Monday.
