The Young Indian Brigade Secures Another Game, Seal The Series With Ease

Another interesting game between South Africa U19 and India U19, but no major luck for South Africa as they still struggle to make it to the scorecard. After having lost two major games to rain, a game for re-scheduled for today where both teams acquired a fair chance. It was a major game for South Africa as they had a chance to redeem their points. But with Shikha Shalot’s contribution, the Indian team was able to win the third T20 game and seal the series against South Africa.

The game was rescheduled at Pretoria, where India won the toss and was elected to bat. The opening pair of Shalot and Shweta Sehrawat started off with zest, providing the required foundation at the start of the game. A major contribution from these two batters set the momentum for the Indians in the first half.

Shalot contributed 49 runs off 40 deliveries, whereas Sehrawat started off, contributing 24 runs, both maintaining a partnership for the first wicket for a total of 55 runs. After Sehrawat’s wicket, the middle order did seem to have stepped back but with Hrishitha Basu’s 20 runs’ contribution, the team was able to settle for a deserving score of 121.

A defendable target for India, but an easily chasable score for the South Africans. The bowling side did an amazing job for South Africa, restricting the middle order and gaining some early wickets for batters like Hurley gala, Trisha Gongadi and Soniya Mendhiya. Seshnie Naidu secured two wickets for her side whereas, Jema Botha and Kayla Reyneke secured 1 each.

Having to chase 122 runs, the South African openers Elandrijanse Van Rensburg and Simone Lourens opened as usual. Sadly, the two weren’t able to perform as expected. Bowling destruction from the Indian side, especially Titas Sadhu who led the destruction. Securing the top-order batters like Lourens and Karabo Meso she gave impetus to other bowlers like Soniya Mendhiya, Trisha Gongadi and Archana Devi.

A collaborative effort from all Indian bowlers led to ultimate destruction. Another game was won by the bowlers. They were able to restrict the bowlers at a petty score of 61 runs taking all 10 wickets. India won the game by 60 runs. With this India has secured the 5 T20 games series and will now head onto their final one against the hosts. A good tour for young Indian bowlers.

Brief Scores:

India 121/6 (Shikha Shalot 49 (40), Seshnie Naidu 2/29) won against South Africa 61/10 (Kayla Reyneke 14 (23), Titas Sadhu 2/2, Soniya Mendhiya 2/4) by 60 runs.
