The Hundred 2023: Tammy Beaumont’s Splendid Century Leads Welsh Fire To A Brilliant Win

An awesome century from Welsh Fire’s captain Tammy Beaumont led the team to a fantastic win over the opponents in The Hundred 2023. Her jaw-dropping century led the team to an amazing total which further converted into their convenient win.

The game at Cardiff’s Sophia Garden was a pleasure to the eyes of the spectators as they witnessed some power-packed batting performance from the Welsh Fire team and later the trail for runs was carried on by the Trent Rockets, who too performed outstandingly well.

The game was packed with power hits from both sides. Although the Trent Rockets lost by a huge margin, they were brilliant with the chase and lost for a considerably small margin given the heap of runs that were to be chased in The Hundred 2023.

The game began with Welsh Fire winning the toss and deciding to bat first. They knew exactly what they were doing given the pitch and weather conditions. With Sophia Dunkley and Tammy Beaumont opening bat for the team, the team was already carried to a safe foundation.

While Dunkley played a steady game, she secured only 24 runs but that too in 18 deliveries playing at a strike rate of 133 in The Hundred 2023. Beaumont played a lion’s share holding ground and playing a power-packed performance of a total of 118 runs in just 61 deliveries. Her game at a strike rate close to 200 was invincible, the batter was almost unstoppable.

She contributed the major runs for the team and was finally accompanied by Sarah Bryce who too added a few runs to the scorecard. On the 99th delivery, Beaumont lost her wicket to Kirstie Gordon, while the wicket was huge, most damage had already been done. Kirstie Gordon picked two wickets from Trent Rockets. A heap of runs to be chased by the Trent Rockets in 100 deliveries. The chase was indeed a task for the Rockets and called upon a lot of planning and execution from the team.

Lizelle Lee and Bryony Smith opened the bat in the match of The Hundred 2023. The two have been power openers for the team with their good partnership and firm foundation led by Smith. While much was expected from the two, they did play their parts to the finest. Lee laid the required foundation by securing some 20+ runs at a strike rate of 108. Bryony Smith played a good game, smashing a few runs beyond the boundary and playing a mindful game overall.

She secured 48 runs in merely 21 deliveries which was fantabulous indeed. The chase required her to portray such skills on the field. But unfortunately, she was soon lost to Freya Davies’ delivery. The batting lineup seemed to have collapsed after that. They weren’t able to maintain partnerships which was a dire need given the heap of runs to be chased. Finally at the end of 100 deliveries that team had to settle with 140 runs on the scorecard of The Hundred 2023.

While Freya Davies picked 2 wickets, Shabnim Ismail, Sophia Dunkley and Alex Hartley picked a wicket each. Brilliant efforts from Trent Rockets, but the credit goes to Beaumont and her incredible century that helped the team win a convenient game.
