The Super50 Cup, the premier 50-over competition in West Indies women’s cricket, showcased intense battles among regional teams. Trinidad and Tobago Women emerged victorious in a dominant fashion, capping off a stellar campaign with a commanding win in the final.

Super50: Trinidad And Tobago vs Barbados – Trinidad and Tobago Won By 7 Wickets

Trinidad and Tobago clinched the CG United Women’s Super50 Cup title with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Barbados Women in the final at Warner Park, Basseterre.

In a low-scoring contest dominated by the bowlers, Barbados faltered with the bat, managing only 71 runs in 29 overs, a target that Trinidad and Tobago chased down comfortably in 23.2 overs.

Barbados’ innings never found stability after being put into bat, as they lost wickets at regular intervals against a disciplined Trinidad and Tobago bowling attack. The opening blow came early when wicketkeeper-batter Kycia Knight was dismissed for a duck, caught off Karishma Ramharack in the fourth over.

Asabi Callender showed some resistance, scoring 28 off 48 balls with a solitary boundary and six, but found little support from the rest of the lineup. Trishan Holder contributed 15 from 14 balls, but her stay was cut short by Anisa Mohammed, who was instrumental in dismantling the middle order. Kyshona Knight, Naijanni Cumberbatch, and Aaliyah Alleyne failed to get going, and Barbados found themselves struggling at 60 for five.

The collapse continued with wickets tumbling in quick succession. The experienced Anisa Mohammed, who returned figures of 3 for 17 in her seven-over spell, orchestrated the downfall alongside Karishma Ramharack, who took 2 for 12 in her economical eight-over spell.

Amrita Ramtahal and Samara Ramnath also chipped in with two wickets each, ensuring there was no way back for Barbados. The lower order failed to contribute significantly, and despite 12 extras, the innings ended at a paltry 71 in 29 overs.

Defending such a low total was always going to be a tough ask for Barbados, but they put up a brief fight with the ball. Shamilia Connell struck early, dismissing Shunelle Sawh for nine in the seventh over.

However, Djenaba Joseph anchored the chase with a patient 28 off 39 balls, stabilizing the innings alongside Britney Cooper, who contributed 17 from 32 deliveries. Connell was the pick of the Barbados bowlers, finishing with 2 for 15 in her 10 overs, but she lacked adequate support from the rest of the attack.

The chase was never under serious threat, despite the dismissals of Cooper and Joseph, as veteran Anisa Mohammed and Lee-Ann Kirby saw the side home with 26.4 overs to spare. Extras played a significant role in the chase, with 14 runs coming in the form of wides, leg-byes, and no-balls. Keila Elliott managed to pick up a wicket in her brief spell, but Trinidad and Tobago’s composed approach ensured they completed the victory at 75 for 3.

With this dominant performance, Trinidad and Tobago Women secured the CG United Women’s Super50 Cup title, showcasing their strength in both the bowling and batting departments. Their bowlers laid the foundation for the win, and their batters executed the chase with patience and control, capping off a near-perfect final performance.
