Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed the South Africa Emerging Women’s squad will embark on a white-ball tour to Bangladesh in May, with a six-match series designed to provide vital international exposure to players on the cusp of senior national honours.
The tour is structured into two segments — three one-day matches from May 6 to 11 in Chattogram, followed by three T20 encounters from May 14 to 18 in Cox’s Bazar. The squad will depart for Bangladesh on Thursday, 1 May.
In a notable move, leadership duties have been split between formats: World Sports Betting Western Province pacer Leah Jones will captain the T20 side, while Kgomotso Rapoo, a DP World Lions spinner, will lead the 50-over contingent.
Both are entrusted with guiding a dynamic group that blends youth with players who have flirted with international selection or featured in junior national sides.
The series is also strategically placed ahead of the 2025 Emerging Academy programme, which will run from June to July, with its intake to be announced shortly.
The squad features familiar names such as Faye Tunnicliffe, Delmi Tucker, and Eliz-Mari Marx, all of whom bring crucial domestic experience.
There is also strong representation from various provincial systems, including the Fidelity Titans, Hollywoodbets Dolphins, and Knights, ensuring a well-balanced, nationally representative outfit.
The coaching staff includes South Africa Under 19 Team’s Coach Dinesha Davnarain as Head Coach, former Proteas all-rounder Claire Terblanche as batting coach, Angelique Taai as bowling coach, and Yolandi van der Westhuizen as fielding coach, providing a high-caliber support structure aimed at refining the squad’s all-round skills in subcontinental conditions.
