Final: Team E vs Team A- Team E Won By 26 Runs
In the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy final at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, Team E claimed the title with a commanding 26-run victory over Team A. A blend of disciplined batting and clinical bowling propelled Team E to a well-deserved win.
Batting first, Team E posted an imposing total of 171 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs, led by stellar contributions from their openers. Nandini Kashyap, the wicketkeeper, anchored the innings with a fluent 56 off 40 balls, striking 12 boundaries at a strike rate of 140.
Her opening partner, Raghvi Bist, played an equally impressive knock, amassing 71 off 51 deliveries with nine boundaries. The pair laid the foundation for the innings with a solid 92-run partnership, dominating the powerplay and middle overs.
Although the dismissal of Kashyap in the 12th over slowed the momentum briefly, contributions from Sayali Satghare (16 off 13) and Simran Shaikh (13 off 5, including a six) ensured Team E maintained a healthy scoring rate.
However, Saika Ishaque’s three-wicket haul for Team A, coupled with tight spells from Hani Patel and Fatima Jaffer, kept Team E from crossing the 180 mark.
Chasing 172, Team A faced an early setback when Priya Punia fell cheaply for 2 in the second over. Trisha Poojitha (25 off 25) and skipper Harleen Deol (43 off 34) stabilized the innings, forging a 62-run partnership. Deol was the standout performer, exhibiting an array of strokes, including a six, but her dismissal in the 12th over derailed the chase.
Richa Ghosh’s quickfire 32 off 17 balls gave Team A a glimmer of hope, but wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. Archana Devi’s 3-over spell, yielding just 11 runs for two wickets, proved pivotal, while Sayali Satghare and P Naik also chipped in with two wickets apiece to stifle the opposition. Despite late resistance from Saika Ishaque (8* off 7) and Hani Patel (8* off 3), Team A could only muster 145 for 8, falling short by 26 runs.
Team E’s victory was built on a cohesive team effort, highlighted by the exploits of Kashyap and Raghvi Bist at the top and complemented by their bowlers’ incisive spells. Their triumph was a testament to their ability to execute under pressure, securing a memorable win in the championship finale.
