Schedule Announced for 2019 South Asian Games (SAG)

The schedule announced for the 2019 South Asian Games which will take place in Kathmandu and Pokhara in Nepal from 1st December to 10th. Women’s cricket will be played as a medals category along with the men’s. All matches in will be held at the Pokhara Rangshala cricket ground.

Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Maldives will compete with each other in the T20 format at the South Asian Games. The group stage will be played in a round-robin format and after the completion of that, the semifinals will be played on 7th Dec 2019, while the Final (Gold/Medal) will be played on 9th Dec 2019. The top two teams will take on each other in the final, while the remaining two teams will play for the Bronze medal game.

While Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are well-known teams and Nepal also to some extent, Maldives are relatively new in this circuit. However, they have created history by sending their first women’s national team to take part in the 13th South Asian Games. Women’s Team coach Padma Kanurarathne, Manager Aisha Aroosha and CBM secretary General Ali Faiz will accompany the team and guide them during the tournament.

On the other hand, Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad for the tournament. They have recently played a series against Pakistan in Pakistan and performed well.

Salma Khatun (Captain), Nigar Sultana Joty, Jahanara Alam, Ayesha Rahman, Fargana Haque Pinki, Murshida Khatun, Sanjida Islam, Shobhana Mostary, Fahima Khatun, Shamima Sultana, Nahida Akhter, Kadija-tul-Kubra, Ritu Moni, Puja Chakravorty and Rabeya

2nd Dec 2019: Nepal vs Maldives at 11:00 am

3rd Dec 2019: Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka at11:00 am

4th Dec 2019: Bangladesh vs Nepal at9:00am ;

                          Sri Lanka vs Maldives at 1:00 pm

5th Dec 2019: Maldives vs Bangladesh at 11:00 am

6th Dec 2019: Nepal vs Sri Lanka at 11:00 am

7th Dec 2019: Bronze Medal Play-off (3rd/4th) at 11:00 am

8th Dec 2019: Gold Medal (Final) at 11:00 am
