Shafali Verma scored a quickfire 38 and the bowlers at the end helped Veda Krishnamurthy’s side to pull out a victory over India A.
Batting first India C rod eon the partnership of Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma went off to a flyer. Verma played in her natural game while Bhatia played the role to steady the innings. Duo completed 50 run partnership within the powerplay and completed 58 runs partnership before Joshi broke that partnership in 7th over.
In the very next over Verma was removed by Sneh Rana and that paused the fluent run rate thatwas coming till then. Skipper Veda Krishnamurthy and Hemalatha Dayalan tried to increase the run rate but both them got out at the crucial juncture of the innings. Veda got out in the 12th over at the score of 82. Nuzhat Parween who took 21 balls to score just 10 became a victim Devika Vaidya leaving Hemalatha standing alone.
Hemalatha played knock of 24 with a less than 100 strike rate but that was the need of the time. India C completed their 100 runs in 99 balls and finally managed to reach to a total of 123 in their allotted over. Though Deepti Sharma picked up two wickets she was supported by Sneh Rana Radha Yadav and Devika Vaidya to restrict the flow of runs.
In reply India A lost Jasia Akhter who has bowled by Manali Dakshini in the 5th over and Priya Punia was back in pavilion in the 10th over after a run ball 25. India A scored 50 runs at the end of the 10th over losing both of their opener. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur who would have played useful role in this chase also felt to seamer Arundhati Reddy after scoring 13 runs.
India A was needed 74 more runs to seal the victory but after the fall of Kaur’s wicket India A only managed to put 38 runs in last 5 overs and most of the run came from the bat of Deepti Sharma who remained not out on 34 off 29 balls. India A took 60 balls to reach to 50 and then another 50 balls to reach to the hundred run marks. India C bowlers except Monika and Bhagat shared the wicket a piece Hemalatha also shone with the ball. Besides her skill with bat she remained the most economical bower of the team.
