India’s young pace sensation Titas Sadhu registered figures of 4/17 in her four-over spell as India bowled out Australia for 141 in the first T20I. The hosts chased down the target with nine wickets and 14 deliveries to spare taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
WV Raman feels Titas Sadhu is a great find for the Indian team as they are in search of a dynamic seamer. He praised Sadhu for delivering the goods despite getting a game after a long time and against arguably the best side in the world.
During a discussion on Sports 18, Raman was asked about his view on Titas Sadhu’s brilliant spell to which the former head coach responded:
“She has got all the elements you seek in a fast bowler and she is a great find as far as India is concerned because that was one of the gaps that the Indian team had for a long time, that is lack of a quality fast bowler to backup Jhulan Goswami when she was around and after that there was always a search going on.”

While recognizing that the search for Jhulan Goswami’s replacement has not yet ended, the former India coach added that the young Bengal seamer is a ray of hope. He detailed:
“Even now the search will go on but this is something that is very heartening for everybody because here comes a youngster who displays temperament and she showed that she belongs there. The clarity, as her teammates have mentioned, is outstanding.”
The Women In Blue played with four seamers in their bowling attack in the first T20I including Renuka Singh, Titas Sadhu, Pooja Vastrakar and Amanjot Kaur and bundled out the visitors for 141.
According to the former wicket-keeper batter Saba Karim, India fielding four seamers in their playing XI in the first T20I against Australia is a massive change in their approach. He also praised the way Titas Sadhu was unearthed.
While talking to Sports 18, Karim opined that India fielding a seam-heavy attack is a welcome change in their approach. He elaborated:
“We spoke about playing four fast bowlers. It is a massive shift in the Indian team’s approach. I feel India might have played with four seamers in a T20 match in India for the first time.”
The former Indian player feels that the approach will yield rich dividends going forward, mentioning Titas Sadhu. While discussing, he further added:
“I feel you will benefit from this. You will unearth new bowlers because of this approach the way Titas Sadhu was unearthed. You stopped a top-quality batting side at just 141 on a good wicket.”
The Bengal-based seamer proved Titas Sadhu the decision right by completely dismantling the Australian batting line-up.
