ICC is set to host its third edition of the ICC Championship 2022-2025. As they announce the fixtures, Pakistan will be embarking on their campaign against Sri Lanka in Karachi. Pakistan will host Sri Lanka for three One Day Internationals from 1st June onwards at Karachi’s Southend Club. The fixtures are scheduled for the 1st, 3rd and 4th of June. Sri Lankan team will arrive at Karachi on 19th May, following which, training sessions will be held. Three T20 games are also scheduled to be held ahead of the Championship ODI games.
Ahead of the series, team Pakistan is also scheduled to undergo an 11-day campaign with 26 participants, which will be held at Academy Oval ground. Records from the previous two editions of the ICC Championship place Pakistan well above the Sri Lankan team. In the inaugural edition, Pakistan finished seventh, whereas in the second edition Pakistan finished at the fifth position.
This will also be the first campaign held at the venue since Pakistan vs West Indies’ ODI games. The teams will be seen playing outside the strictly managed Event Environment since COVID19. Although the quarantine is done away with, players and the management staff will still be expected to undergo on-arrival tests and will have to adhere to the SOPs.
Pakistan’s captain Bismah Maroof said, “It is a great privilege for us to play the ICC Women’s Championship on our home soil and the side is very excited to welcome Sri Lanka. This edition provides us an opportunity to start fresh and make the most of the home advantage.
“I am sure the team will perform to their fullest potential and the Pakistan cricket fans, who have extended us great support, will get to see better and consistent results.”
