Netherlands Announced Upcoming Fixture Against Ireland, Namibia And The FairBreak Tournament

With the worldwide progress of women’s cricket, other teams apart from the top too, have started gaining interesting tours and fixtures to look forward to. And so, it’s not just the men but also women belonging to countries like the Netherlands and Namibia, who are scheduled to have an active summer of cricket. Netherlands team having secured their previous T20 games against Ireland are now given a handful of opportunities to represent their skills and power against teams like Namibia and Ireland. The FairBreak too is expected to bring in some action for the players.

The Netherlands will not only play but also host the guests in early July and August. Having gained the ‘One Day International status’ by the ICC, it’s now time for the Dutch to go all out as they set to play their first ODI series against Ireland.

T20s against Namibia in June and July

Five T20I are scheduled to be held in late June and early July between the two teams. The Netherlands last played against Namibia in 2019, where they conveniently secured their game by chasing down a total of 92 runs. Some impressive performances from Iris Zwilling and Heather Siegers will be anticipated.

ODIs against Ireland in August

The games will be of utmost importance for the Netherlands as they set to play ODI after a long time. Ireland will visit the Netherlands for ODI games for the first time since 2006.

FairBreak visit in August-September

The last two months of summer are booked to be played with a FairBreak team where they will face each other for 3 T20 games. The FairBreak of May 2022 gained lots of attention and popularity internationally in which 2 Dutch players (Sterre Kalis and Babette de Leede) participated.

Impressed with this busy schedule, the National team’s coach Shane Deitz commented, “We have a fantastic summer of cricket ahead for the team with great opportunities in T20 and 50 over cricket all at home in front of our home supporters. The girls have worked really hard over the winter and early in the summer and are ready for the international summer ahead.”

“Building on from a great tour in Zimbabwe at the end of 2021 where the team showed that we can be competitive against higher-ranked teams we have a chance again to take on some quality opposition on our home grounds. Namibia – currently ranked higher than us – will be a great challenge and one we are excited about. They are a well-prepared side and played a lot of international cricket of late so this will be a tough series,” Shane Deitz further added.

“Later we get to play Ireland whom we have played many times over the past 12 months. They have had the better of the results, but we have pushed them hard and want to try and be on the right end of the results this time. Lastly, playing the Fairbreakorganisation is fantastic. FairBreak has given great opportunities for Associate countries’ players in the women’s game to show their skills against the world’s best. Shaun Martyn and his team have been inspirational to women cricketers around the world, and it will be an honour to play them in a three-game series which will bring women from all parts of the world together. On the field again it’s a great chance for the team to showcase their skills in front of our home supporters,” Shane Deitz concluded.

This is a pure indicator of some golden days lined up for Women’s Cricket on an international stage.
