Hampshire clinched a 31-run victory over Somerset via the DLS method in the 25th match of the Women’s One-Day Cup at Taunton, successfully defending their total of 213 as Georgia Adams and Charli Knott led a disciplined bowling effort to stifle the hosts despite a resilient knock from Sophie Luff.

Match 25: Hampshire vs Somerset– Hampshire Won By 31 Runs

After electing to bat first, Hampshire posted 213 runs in their 50 overs, driven by a crucial innings from Charli Knott, who top-scored with 64 off 102 deliveries. Maia Bouchier provided an aggressive start with a 43-ball 39, striking seven boundaries before falling to Amanda-Jade Wellington.

Rhianna Southby contributed a valuable 46 off 65 balls, maintaining the innings’ momentum despite a middle-order collapse. For Somerset, Chloe Skelton and Alex Griffiths were the standout bowlers, claiming two wickets each, while Amanda-Jade Wellington and Charlie Dean chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Somerset’s chase of a revised target of 214 in 49 overs was hampered by a rain interruption, with the score reduced to 49 overs. They struggled to maintain partnerships as Hampshire’s bowlers applied consistent pressure.

Sophie Luff led the resistance with a resilient 74 off 108 balls, anchoring the innings amidst regular dismissals at the other end. Heather Knight added 23 off 31 balls, but a crucial run-out by Maia Bouchier cut short her promising knock.

Ellie Anderson attempted to revive the chase with a late 42-ball 28, but with limited support from the lower order, Somerset could only muster 182 in 46 overs. Georgia Adams spearheaded Hampshire’s bowling attack with three wickets for 36 runs in her 10-over spell, including the key dismissals of Sophie Luff and Alex Griffiths.

Bex Tyson and Charli Knott also claimed two wickets each, keeping the pressure on Somerset’s batters. Freya Davies provided a solid start with figures of 1 for 29 in her eight overs, setting the tone for a disciplined bowling effort.
