India Women vs South Africa Women, 2nd ODI – South Africa Win The Toss, Elect To Bowl First

The 2nd ODI match of the ongoing three-match ODI series will take place between India Women vs South Africa Women at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 19. South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first.

However, Team India have started the series with a convincing win over South Africa in the first ODI where vice-captain Smriti Mandhana scored a stunning century. However, South African bowlers did well but the batters failed miserably and they couldn’t contribute much and eventually got out 122, losing the match by 143 runs as well. Asha Sobhana claimed 4 wickets on her debut as well.

India Women vs South Africa Women, 2nd ODI – Captains’ Take

Harmanpreet Kaur: “We were looking to bat only. In the previous game, somehow we managed to score 260 on the board. Today’s wicket is even better. As a batting unit, we are looking for a more positive approach. Renuka is resting today. In place of her, ArundhatI is making her debut.

(Message to the batters) We go with the same positive approach. Even though in the last game, we lost early wickets, our batting unit managed to score. Today’s wicket is even better, so hopefully we’ll manage to set a good total. I am looking better today. Even in the last game, I played 10-12 balls and I was looking quite positive. Today, hopefully I will deliver to the team.”

Laura Wolvaardt: “We are gonna have a bowl first today. It’s the first toss that I have won in a while. Looks a bit greener today, so we are hoping it skids on nicely later under lights. We’ve got two changes today. Nadine de Klerk returns from illness and comes in for Shangase. Jafta suffered a mild concussion at the training yesterday. So, Mieke de Ridder makes her debut. It’s pretty much like-for-like.

Nadine, being the all-rounder, offers with bat and ball and Mieke being the keeper should be pretty balanced again. Hopefully we are able to deliver batter as a group with the bat. A bit disappointed after the last game. We’ve had two days to reflect and have a couple of good, hard chats to talk about where we went wrong. Ready to go today, the series is still on the line and alive. If we can get that big win, all to play for in the last game.”
