India vs South Africa, 3rd T20I – Pooja Vastrakar And Radha Yadav Bundle South Africa Out For A Below-Par Score

India are currently playing against South Africa in the third T20I of the three-match T20I series at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, July 09. India won the toss and opted to bowl first. The bowling unit, especially Pooja Vastrakar And Radha Yadav shone with the ball and bowled South Africa out for a below-par score.

Put into bat, South Africa openers LAura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits got off to a steady start. They added 19 runs and just when they started to accelerate their innings, Indian bowlers started doing their jobs. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur brought Shreyanka Patil into the attack and she did her job in the very first over.

She removed the in-form Laura Wolvaardt for a mere 9 runs. It was full-on delivery on the off-stump, Wolvaardt tried to go big over long-on but ended up giving a catch to Reddy at mid-off. Her dismissal brought Marizanne Kapp in the middle and she came all guns blazing since the very beginning.

She hit two boundaries off Patil but couldn’t continue her onslaught thanks to Vastrakar. She got out for a mere 10. Meanwhile, Tazmin Brits kept the scoreboard ticking with timely boundaries but she too couldn’t carry her momentum as a stunning grab by Harmanpreet Kaur removed her for 20. They managed only 57 runs in 10 overs.

However, Pooja Vastrakar’s double strike in the 11th over dismantled South Africa’s progress and they lost half of the wickets pretty quickly. Neither Annerie Dercksen nor Chloe Tryon could score big. Soon, Radha Yadav put the last nail in the coffin with her double strike again and South Africa were bundled out for 84 in 17.1 overs as well.

After the innings, pace bowler Arundhati Reddy said: “We have done a lot of planning coming into this game, we were not up to the mark in the last couple of games and it was a complete team effort today. Wicket is a little on the slower side today and we had made a few adjustments with line and length and it helped us a lot. Backing our batters to chase this down.”
