India vs South Africa, 2nd T20I – Tazmin Brits And Anneke Bosch Help South Africa Post A Decent Total

India are currently playing against South Africa in the second T20I of the three-match T20I series at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, July 07. India won the toss and opted to bowl first.

South Africa got off to a flying start with Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits adding 43 runs in 4.1 overs. Both Wolvaardt and Brits didn’t take much time to set her eyes in as Brits hit three boundaries in the second over after surviving a stumping.

Laura Wolvaardt was no different as she hit three consecutive boundaries off Arundhati Reddy in the very next over. While te first one went in the gap between the keeper and the short third, she smashed the ball on the off-side, beating the fielder at sweeper cover to her left as well. The third one went through the right of mid-wicket.

Their onslaught helped South Africa post 43 runs in 4 overs as well. However, Wolvaardt once again failed to score big as Pooja Vastrakar drew the first blood. A short and wide-off ball bowled by Pooja and Wolvaardt cut it straight into the hands of Radha at the backward point and she got out for 22 (12) [4s-3].

Meanwhile, Marizanne Kapp picked up where she left in the first game and scored back-to-back fours off Radha Yadav. And, they reached 70 runs in 7 overs only. However, to slow down the pace, Harmanpreet Kaur brought her key player Deepti Sharma into the attack and the move worked for them.

Deepti removed Kapp on the very first ball of her over. Kapp didn’t get the elevation as she hit the shot straight to the mid-off where Sajana grabbed an easy catch. She went for 20 (14) [4s-3]. However, Tazmin Brits and Anneke Bosch kept the scoreboard ticking with their timely big shots and singles as well. Meanwhile, Indian bowlers did pretty well to restrict the run-flow in the middle overs.

South Africa opener Tazmin Brits scored a fifty

However, South Africa opener Tazmin Brits scored another fifty in 36 balls as well but couldn’t contribute much. Debutant Uma Chhetry did a brilliant stumping and removed her for 52 as well. Her dismissal brought Chloe Tryon in the middle but she was seen struggling in the middle whereas Bosch held the other end.

South Africa were under pressure before the final 2 overs saw them hitting big shots to reach a decent total. Both Anneke Bosch and Nadine de Klerk smashed four fours before the former got out for 40 off Shreyanka Patil. The final over witnessed Annerie Dercksen’s stunning shots. She smashed 3 consecutive boundaries and South Africa posted a huge total of 177 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.
