South Africa U19 Team will take on India U19 Team in a five-match T20 series ahead of the much-awaited inaugural edition of the U19 T20 World Cup 2023. The bilateral series is set to begin on 27th December, with all five matches scheduled to be played at the Tuks Cricket Oval, Pretoria.
Before hosting the mega-event, South Africa will be up against India as a part of the preparation. The five-match T20 series will be an excellent chance for them to understand their home conditions and be the favourites of the event. Recently, the Women’s T20 Super League organized by Cricket South Africa (CSA) featured South Africa U19 team to make them ready for the India series and the World Cup as well. Although South Africa lost both the games they played, there were still many learnings for them.
Meanwhile, India U19 Team are in great form as they come into this series on the back of a 5-0 T20 series win over New Zealand U19 Women in November. Soumya Tiwari has been their best batter in recent games, whereas Mannat Kashyap has been their star bowler. India’s biggest advantage is that they will feature two of the senior international players Shafali Verma, the skipper, and in-form hard-hitting wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh. India will try to make the most of their experience in South African conditions and perform their best.
However, the India U19 Team clearly starts as favourites to win this series against South Africa U19 Women. The visitors have great momentum with them, and the presence of Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh makes them a deadly side. However, South African U19 Team will have the home advantage with them and can give a tough fight to India. The series is expected to be a competitive one, with both teams aiming to give their best and prepare thoroughly for the upcoming World Cup.
