Bengaluru and Chennai will host the all-format series between India and South Africa, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday (May 14). The visitors will start the series with a warm-up game against a Board President’s XI side in Bengaluru on May 13 before the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as well. They will also play three ODIs on June 16, 19 and 24 respectively.
Notably, the MA Chidambaram Stadium will host a women’s Test match for the first time since November 1976 when India played against West Indies women in the capital city of Tamil Nadu as well. However, India have beaten South Africa in both their previous meetings, including the one in Paarl in March 2002 as well.
The series will then shift to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where the two teams will play a one-off Test from June 28 as well. It will be only the third Test between India and South Africa, with the previous one coming in Mysore almost 10 years ago. The tour will end with three T20Is on July 5, 7 and 9 serving as the build-up to the T20 World Cup which will take place in Bangladesh later in the year.
