India regained some form ahead of the exciting one-off test in this series, as they registered a scintillating win versus England at the Wankhede, here on Monday in the last and final T20 international. In what seemed like a dismal day with the bat for England as they were dismissed for 126, India chased down the total in 19 overs.
England won the toss and decided to bat first in this last and final T20I, the decision in hindsight perhaps could be to experiment and put to test their batting in these conditions. Off to a tricky start losing their opener Maia Bouchier for a golden duck as the new ball opening spell for Renuka Singh Thakur is auguring well for Team India.
However, Sophia Dunkley was going all hammers and tongs on the other end but her dismissal for 11 was once again effected by the premium pacer Renuka Singh who has regained her lost rhythm.

Once again, the onus of rebuilding fell on Alice Capsey and Heather Knight and the duo seemed on track in executing the role to perfection. But with the dot balls accumulating for Capsey, Saika Ishaque’s slow and tossed-up outside off ball was enough the deceive and hand India another breakthrough.
Amy Jones was then out to the middle and paired with Knight to stitch a partnership to take the match away from India. For about six overs or so, they were on track but the runs were taking time to come by.

Amy Jones’ stay at the crease was shortlived as she was undone by Saika Ishaque, who was once again instrumental in prompting the keeper batter to mistime a slog sweep straight to the hands of a fielder placed at mid-wicket and Shreyanka Patil seemed to make no mistake, England was 67/4.
The very next ball she was successful in dismissing Danielle Gibson for a golden duck as a skidded scrambled seam delivery was enough to outfox the new batter and England seemed out of sorts.

Danielle Gibson ✅Two wickets on successive deliveries for Saika Ishaque 👏 👏

It was then Shreyanka Patil’s 13th over that was another game-changing moment as she successively dismissed Bess Heath and Freya Kemp for single digits and returned to get Sophie Ecclestone. Although Heather Knight marched on from the other end with wickets falling in clumps, a big total seemed out of the horizon.

The last and final over had the all-rounder Amanjot Kaur come to the party and deliver with the successive blows of skipper Knight and tailender Mahika Gaur as England slumped to 126 all out in their 20 overs with 12 extras pushing their total up.
For India, it was a memorable bowling performance as the duo of Saika Ishaque and Shreyanka Patil ended up with three wickets and with Renuka Singh Thakur and Amanjot Kaur taking two, it rounded up what was a good show with the ball.

With a total of 126 to chase, it was time for the batting to step up and doing so in a commendable fashion was the dynamic opening duo of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. Off to a brisk start, India lost Shafali Verma for 6 as Freya Kemp provided the first breakthrough.
Jemimah Rodrigues, India’s dependable #3 then stepped it up with Smriti Mandhana and although the boundaries dried up, the partnership witnessed a lot of running for quick singles and doubles.
End of Powerplay! #TeamIndia move to 31/1.

They batted through the powerplay and beyond the halfway stage of the match till Charlie Dean, the hero of the second T20I came to the fray and got Jemimah LBW for 29 off 33, and a review also did not help India’s prospects.

Even as Smriti Mandhana batted on, Deepti Sharma’s 12 was touch and go and with the settled Mandhana out for a run a ball 48, was the match going to see a surprising result?
Richa Ghosh’s dismissal for 2 was also nerve-wracking for Team India, however, a calm and composed 6 off 8 by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and the explosive 10 off 4 by Amanjot Kaur that saw two boundaries, ensured India was past the finishing line with a comfortable 5 wicket win with 6 balls to spare. England still had Freya Kemp and the ever-consistent Sophie Ecclestone with two wickets each, yet defending the total of 126 was a tall ask.
