The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier 2025 witnessed contrasting outcomes as Thailand secured a commanding 45-run victory over Bhutan, while Nepal held their nerve to clinch a six-wicket win against Bahrain under the DLS method.
Meanwhile, the clash between Qatar and the United Arab Emirates was abandoned due to inclement weather, leaving both teams to share points.
Match 13: Thailand vs Bhutan– Thailand Won By 45 Runs
Thailand continued their dominant run in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier with a comprehensive 45-run victory over Bhutan in a rain-affected encounter at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok.
The match, reduced to nine overs per side, saw Thailand making the most of their batting resources after being put in to bat by Bhutan.
Nattaya Boochatham set the tone early with a brisk 7 off 4 deliveries before being bowled by Ritshi Choden in the third over. The platform was then laid by Chanida Sutthiruang, who anchored the innings with a measured 37 off 30 balls, striking five boundaries while maintaining a strike rate of 123.33.
However, it was Nannapat Koncharoenkai who stole the show with a blistering 33 off just 17 balls, laced with six boundaries. Her aggressive approach, combined with a strike rate of 194.11, powered Thailand to a formidable 88 for 3 in their allotted nine overs.
Bhutan’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with Sonam Choden emerging as the most economical, conceding just two runs in her solitary over.
Laomi finished with figures of 2 for 7 as Bhutan could make only 43 for 5 from their 9 overs as there was a run out from the last ball of the innings.

In response, Bhutan’s chase got off to a shaky start as they lost Ngawang Choden for 1, bowled by Thipatcha Putthawong in the final delivery of the first over. Wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals, with Onnicha Kamchomphu and Suleeporn Laomi tightening the screws.
Kamchomphu was outstanding with the ball, delivering a miserly spell of 2-0-2-1, while Laomi claimed two crucial wickets for just seven runs in her two overs.
Dechen Wangmo tried to hold the innings together with a 15-ball 14, but the mounting required run rate and disciplined Thai bowling stifled Bhutan’s chase.
Tshering Zangmo’s 15 off 15 balls provided a brief resistance, yet the rest of the batting line-up failed to rise to the occasion. Bhutan could only muster 43 for 5 in their nine overs, falling well short of the target by 45 runs.
Nannapat Koncharoenkai’s match-defining innings earned her the Player of the Match award, further solidifying her impact as a key player for Thailand in the qualifiers. With this victory, Thailand secured two valuable points, enhancing their position in Group A.
Match 14: Bahrain vs Nepal– Nepal Won By 6 Wickets
In another rain-affected encounter at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok, Nepal secured a thrilling six-wicket victory over Bahrain under the DLS method in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bahrain Women struggled to find momentum amidst a string of run-outs that stifled their scoring opportunities.
Tharanga Gajanayake, Rasika Rodrigo, and captain Deepika Rasangika all fell to the sharp fielding efforts of Nepal, with the trio contributing 12, 24, and 23 runs respectively.
Despite showing promise, Bahrain’s innings was punctuated by untimely dismissals, eventually closing at 76/3 in 12.4 overs. Extras played a significant role in their total, contributing 12 runs, including 11 wides, indicating the lack of discipline in the Nepalese bowling unit.
Nepal’s bowlers struggled to maintain control, conceding a high number of extras, but managed to keep the run rate in check. Indu Barma was the standout performer, delivering a controlled spell of 3 overs for just 13 runs and maintaining an economy of 4.33.

Riya Sharma, Kabita Kunwar, and Ishwori Bist also contributed with economical spells, while Rajmati Airee and Kabita Joshi proved expensive, leaking runs at crucial moments.
Chasing a revised target of 56 runs in 7 overs due to rain, Nepal’s batting lineup faced immediate setbacks. Pavithra Shetty wreaked havoc early on, claiming three wickets in her two overs, including the scalps of Rubi Poddar and Kabita Joshi, conceding only 10 runs.
With Nepal reeling at 8/3, it was the skipper Indu Barma who took charge of the innings. Playing a sensational knock under pressure, Barma smashed an unbeaten 24 off just 7 deliveries, a blistering innings laced with four boundaries and a six, propelling Nepal to a memorable win with 8 balls to spare. Puja Mahato chipped in with a vital 13 off 11, providing the much-needed support to her captain in the middle.
Barma’s all-round performance earned her the Player of the Match award, capping off a commanding display that not only stabilized Nepal after a shaky start but also showcased her prowess as a decisive finisher in high-pressure situations.
The victory earned Nepal two crucial points, strengthening their position in Group C.
