India U-19 team is all set and ready for the inaugural edition of the much-awaited U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. They had great preparation for the South African conditions as they played a six-match T20 series against the South Africa U19 team. The women in blue have a great and balanced squad with Shafali Verma leading the side and Shweta Sehrawat being her deputy. They find themselves with the hosts South Africa, Scotland, and UAE in Group D. They are one of the favourites to win the cup and bring laurels to the nation.
What could we expect?
With two days of warm-up matches being played in South Africa right before the start of the World Cup, India claimed huge confidence by registering a good win. They kickstarted their official warm-up matches with a close contest against Australia where the Indian team held their nerves better and ended up on the winning side.
The Indian team struggled with the bat and ended up scoring just 97 having lost 8 wickets but came back strongly into the contest by restricting the opponent to 79/7 in 20 overs. Thereby the Indian team emerged victorious by 18 runs. Before that, they thrashed South Africa on their home turf 4-0 which indicates that the women who have blue have ticked all the boxes coming into the tournament.
Players to watch out for India:
Shweta Sehrawat: Shweta Sehrawat will act as the deputy leader for the Indian team helping Shafali Verma. The top-order batter is known for her consistency and play marathon innings. She has the ability to build the innings from one end and help her side reach a respectable total. We can expect her to finish as one of the leading run-getters in the tournament.
Ready to hit the ground running! 🙌

Mannat Kashyap: The left-arm spinner can pose a great threat to opponents. She has the ability to flight the ball and her turners on the flat pitch will be troublesome for any batter also. While she has done fairly well at the U-19 level, she is expected to maintain her form in the marquee event as well.
